Saturday night saw St Mary’s Church, Upton Scudamore packed to its legal limit as villagers, numbers swelled by numerous visitors, including a couple from Adelaide Australia, celebrated their own version of the Last Night of the Proms in aid of church funds. Somewhat earlier in the year than the BBC’s version but appropriately timed for the week of St George’s Day, the music for this very English of events was provided by Warminster’s very own Philharmonic Orchestra.
